3D scanner
Site readings conducted by 3D scanner, or lasergrammetry, constitute a new technology aimed at acquiring survey points geo-referenced in three dimensions (X, Y and Z). The most recent 3D scanners used by Techniques Topo combine the performance of a conventional tacheometer with the scanning of a high-frequency laser beam capable of recording hundreds of thousands of points per second. A 3D numerical model, derived from several scans, is a real asset for many of the tasks assigned; it gives rise to a homogeneous and extremely consistent database that offers potential use as a benchmark, thanks to a software package adapted to current formats, for the purpose of creating products adapted to individual needs (standard drawings, specific 3D analyses and designs, comparative evaluations, digital archives, videos, etc.).
Technical specifications:
- Technology: "Flight time" or "phase offset" pulsed laser
- 2 to 4-mm precision (depending on the type of surface and the distance measured)
- A 1-mm² to 1-m² mesh, extending to 250 m
- 5,000 to 500,000 point-per-second acquisition speed
The level of precision in the most recent generation of 3D scanners and onboard software enables carrying out field surveys in accordance with requirements set forth in the current administrative orders that govern our profession.
The following examples are comprised solely of points. The apparent surface area that can be derived merely stems from the high density of points present in 3D models.

Techniques Topo is certified according to the ISO 9001:2008 Standard.
