Digital Elevation Models

The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) has become more widely used in project design and management applications.
A DEM outputs the altitude of a given number of geographic points spread across the interior of a mesh covering a designated field zone.
At the Techniques Topo firm, DEM serve to:
  • reconstitute a computer image of onsite conditions,
  • determine the trajectory for flyby field reconnaissance,
  • calculate surface areas or volumes,
  • plot topographic profiles
  • and from a general standpoint, quantitatively assess the project site.
